windows 11 vs windows 10 reciving DNS Suffix Search List from DHCP

We have an issue in Windows 11 machiens which are not reciving DNS Suffix Search List from DHCP.
All windows 10 machine in the same network are receiving the dns Suffix Search List from DHCP and the windows 11 not receiving
i know i can add the DNS Suffix Search List through registry.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters]
"SearchList"="csrv"
But this solution is less preferable

is there a fix for this?

Hello,
The Windows 10 machine is running IPV6 and the Windows 11 Machine is running IPV4.
What happens if they are running the same.

This is not an ipv6 problem
there is aomthing in windows 11 that do this
in the dhcp we add Domain search list for all client
all windows 10 client are working properly the problem exist in windows 11 only
you can bypass it with by add it manualy to each client in several methods:VBS,reg file
But this solution is less preferable

This is a known issue, which should ship in a Windows Update in early Q2.

Notes in KB will read something similar to this:
Addressed an issue with DHCP Option 119 - Domain Search Option which prevented the use of Connection-specific DNS Suffix Search List.

Hello, I have the same problem with Windows 11 workstations.

The DHCP server (linux) is configured as follows:

option domain-search "domain-1.fr", "domain-2.fr";

On Windows 10 workstations, the DNS suffix search list includes these 2 domains, on a Windows 11 workstation this is not the case.

Is it a bug ? or is it just not possible anymore with windows 11 ?

Where can I find an answer to this problem?

I'm wanting to make sure I'm understanding that a fairly fundamental network feature is really taking over a YEAR to fix? Is that correct?

The response from @Darrell Gorter mentions "Early Q2", but was a response in 2022 (before Q2 of 2022), and it's now 2023 and this STILL does not work?

Any hope in sight for an actual fix?

Just discovered that Win 11 22H2 22621.1413 does not honor option 119, was chasing my tail until I found this.

KB5012643 says it is supposed to be fixed, not on my machines:

Yes DHCPOPT 119 continues to appear to be not work in Windows11.

I had this same issue on Win 11 22H2.

I solved it with the following procedure:

Open Regedit:

Navigate to: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters]

Create a New "String Value" with the following:

Name: SearchList

Value Data: {DNS SUFFIX} *Note that the Value Data can contain multiple DNS Suffixes separated by a comma (,). Replace the {DNS SUFFIX} with your information.

This isn't really a solution, as the information doesn't come from the DHCP server but from hard-coded information in the registry.

It's more of a workaround.

I've noticed this appears to be fixed in a recent update. My build is now 22621.1778 and I now receive DHCP Suffix Search list from my DHCP Server.
