Este método implementa la interfaz System.IEquatable<T> y funciona ligeramente mejor que Equals porque no tiene que convertir el parámetro value
en un objeto .
Si value
tiene menos bits (es más estrecho) que el tipo de instancia, algunos lenguajes de programación realizan una conversión de ampliación implícita que transforma el valor del parámetro en un valor con más bits.
Por ejemplo, supongamos que el tipo de instancia es Int32 y el tipo de parámetro es Byte. El compilador de Microsoft C# genera instrucciones para representar el valor del parámetro como un objeto Int32 y, a continuación, genera un método Int32.CompareTo para comparar la instancia de Int32 y la representación de parámetros.

Notas a los autores de las llamadas
La resolución de sobrecarga del compilador puede tener en cuenta una diferencia aparente en el comportamiento de las dos sobrecargas del método Equals(Object). Si se define una conversión implícita entre el argumento value
y un Decimal y el argumento no está escrito como un Object, los compiladores pueden realizar una conversión implícita y llamar al método Equals(Decimal). De lo contrario, llaman al método Equals(Object), que siempre devuelve false
si su argumento value
no es un valor Decimal. En el ejemplo siguiente se muestra la diferencia de comportamiento entre las dos sobrecargas del método. En el caso de todos los tipos enteros primitivos, incluidos los tipos firmados y sin signo, la primera comparación devuelve true
