Prepare your cloud environment for planned changes
The Cloud Adoption Framework Ready methodology is where you prepare your cloud environment for planned changes.
Before adoption can begin, you need to create a landing zone to host the workloads that you plan to build in or migrate to the cloud. In this article, you learn how to use the cloud adoption ready methodology to create a landing zone for your workloads in Microsoft Cloud for Sovereignty. A landing zone is a set of resources and policies that host your workloads in the cloud.
Start with a Greenfield environment
If you're new to the cloud and don't have any existing resources or subscriptions, you need to create your first landing zone. To do that, you need to:
- Understand the concepts behind landing zones.
- Choose between an Azure landing zone or a Sovereign landing zone. A Sovereign landing zone is a special type of landing zone that meets the requirements of Microsoft Cloud for Sovereignty. For more information, see Overview of the Sovereign Landing Zone.
- Follow the guidelines to deploy an Azure landing zone or a Sovereign landing zone.
Transition from a Brownfield environment
If you already have some resources or subscriptions in the cloud, you need to transition them to a landing zone. To do that, you need to:
- Follow the guidance to transition an existing Azure environment to a landing zone. This guidance applies to both Azure landing zones and Sovereign landing zones.
- If you want to move workloads to Azure Confidential Computing, use the Confidential corp and Confidential online management groups in the Sovereign Landing Zone. For more information, see Sovereignty considerations for Azure landing zones article.
Next steps
The next step is to make sure that the platform governance is in place and ready to host the classification of workload you migrate or new applications you deploy.
