Get-EmailAddressPolicy

This cmdlet is available in on-premises Exchange and in the cloud-based service. Some parameters and settings may be exclusive to one environment or the other.

Use the Get-EmailAddressPolicy cmdlet to view email address policies. In Exchange Online, email address policies are available only for Microsoft 365 Groups.

Description

You need to be assigned permissions before you can run this cmdlet. Although this topic lists all parameters for the cmdlet, you may not have access to some parameters if they're not included in the permissions assigned to you. Example 1

Get-EmailAddressPolicy

This example returns a summary list of all email address policies in the organization.

Example 2

Get-EmailAddressPolicy -Identity "Contoso Employees"

This example returns detailed information for the email address policy named Contoso Employees.

Parameters

-DomainController

This parameter is available only in on-premises Exchange.

The DomainController parameter specifies the domain controller that's used by this cmdlet to read data from or write data to Active Directory. You identify the domain controller by its fully qualified domain name (FQDN). For example, dc01.contoso.com.

-Identity

The Identity parameter specifies the email address policy that you want to view. You can use any value that uniquely identifies the policy. For example:

  • Name
  • Distinguished name (DN)
  • GUID

-IncludeMailboxSettingOnlyPolicy

This parameter is functional only in Exchange Server 2010.

The IncludeMailboxSettingOnlyPolicy switch retrieves Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 address policies that contain only mailbox management configuration. You don't need to specify a value with this switch.

Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 supports policies that contain only address policy settings and policies that contain address policy settings and mailbox management configuration. Exchange 2010 doesn't support policies that contain only mailbox management configuration, but Exchange 2003 policies that contain only mailbox management configuration are, by default, preserved and not upgraded.

The attributes of address policies that contain only mailbox management configuration can't be modified in Exchange 2010. These policies can only be removed.
