Modifying Workloads
Published : September 27, 2005
DPM offers several methods that you can use to modify protection workloads and thereby improve performance. Table 3.4 lists the methods you can use to modify protection workloads and indicates what you can expect from each.
Table 3.4 Methods for Modifying Protection Workloads
Method |
Impact |
---|---|
Jobs use less bandwidth, but take longer to complete |
|
Reduces size of data transfer, but increases CPU utilization on the DPM server and the protected file servers |
|
Balances the loads of synchronization jobs across protection groups |
|
Prevents DPM from interfering with regular business use of protected file servers |
|
Replica creation may be faster; no performance load on file server or network resources. |
