The Get-MsolRole cmdlet can be used to retrieve a list of administrator roles.

Syntax

Get-MsolRole -ObjectId <Guid> [-TenantId <Guid>] [<CommonParameters>]

Get-MsolRole -RoleName <string> [-TenantId <Guid>] [<CommonParameters>]

Parameters

    -ObjectId <Guid>
        The object ID of the role to retrieve.
        
        Required?                    true
        Position?                    named
        Default value                
        Accept pipeline input?       true (ByPropertyName)
        Accept wildcard characters?  false
        
    -RoleName <string>
        The name of the role to retrieve.
        
        Required?                    true
        Position?                    named
        Default value                
        Accept pipeline input?       true (ByPropertyName)
        Accept wildcard characters?  false
        
    -TenantId <Guid>
        The unique ID of the tenant to perform the operation on. If this is 
        not provided then the value will default to the tenant of the current 
        user. This parameter is only applicable to partner users.

    <CommonParameters>
        This cmdlet supports the common parameters: Verbose, Debug,
        ErrorAction, ErrorVariable, WarningAction, WarningVariable,
        OutBuffer and OutVariable. For more information, type,
        "get-help about_commonparameters".

Examples

Output is provided by Microsoft.Online.Administration.Role. For this cmdlet, each output object will include the following fields:

  1. Description: A description of the role.

  2. IsEnabled: Whether or not the role is enabled.

  3. IsSystem: Whether or not the role was created by .

  4. Name: The name of the role.

  5. ObjectId: The unique ID of the role.

Example 1

The following command retrieves administrator roles for the company.
