Getting Started Building Your Web Application

When you are ready to begin to develop your Commerce Server 2009 Web application, you have four choices:

  • You can use a SharePoint Commerce Configuration to create a Commerce enabled SharePoint site, such as the Default site that is included with Commerce Server 2009 and use it as a starting point for your SharePoint application development. See the Commerce Server 2009 Installation Guide for information on how to install the Default Web Site.

  • You can use the Project Wizard within Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 to add Commerce Server 2009 functionality to an existing Web application. For step-by-step instructions, see How to Create an Application in Visual Studio. Make sure that, in step 5, you provide the URL of your existing Visual Basic or C# Web application.

  • You can unpack the CSharp site package that is included with Commerce Server 2009 and use it as a starting point for your Web application development. For step-by-step instructions, see How to Unpack a Site on the Business Management Server.

  • You can use the Project Wizard within Visual Studio 2008 to create a new Commerce Server 2009 Web application that uses either Visual Basic or C#. For step-by-step instructions, see How to Create an Application in Visual Studio.
