Working with Address Resources

A Commerce Server 2009 address resource is typically either a Web site or a Web service; a software entity accessed through a URL. By default, with regard to address resources, a Commerce Server 2009 Web site consists of the Web site itself and the four Web services associated with several of the Commerce Server 2009 systems. These Web services are the Orders Web Service, the Catalog Web Service, the Marketing Web Service, and the Profiles Web Service.

In Commerce Server Manager, address resources are displayed in the Applications node within particular site nodes in the Commerce Sites node (other types of resources are displayed in the Site Resources node that is a sibling of the Applications node within each site node).

You can create custom address resources and integrate them with Commerce Server. For example, if you have added new functionality to your Commerce Server 2009 installation, you could create a fifth Web service that extends that functionality across the Internet to remote clients.

This section provides information about how to integrate an address resource into the resource tables that Commerce Server 2009 maintains so that you can manage it from Commerce Server Manager. This section also describes the ways in which an address resource is handled differently from other Commerce Server 2009 resources.
