How to: View Server Properties (SQL Server Management Studio)

The properties of an instance of SQL Server can be viewed in SQL Server Management Studio. Some properties are read-only, and some can be changed in SQL Server Management Studio. Some properties require restarting SQL Server to take effect.

Note

Some property pages present information obtained via Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI). WMI must be installed on the computer running SQL Server Management Studio, to display those pages.

To view server properties

1. In Object Explorer, right-click a server, and then click Properties.

2. In the Server Properties dialog box, click a page to view server information about that page.
