Examples

The following example invokes the Win32_Process::Create method to start a new process of Calc.exe. The InvokeMethodOptions class is used to invoke the method.

using System;
using System.Management;

// This sample demonstrates invoking
// a WMI method using parameter objects
public class InvokeMethod
{
    public static void Main()
    {

        // Get the object on which the method will be invoked
        ManagementClass processClass =
            new ManagementClass("Win32_Process");

        // Get an input parameters object for this method
        ManagementBaseObject inParams =
            processClass.GetMethodParameters("Create");

        // Fill in input parameter values
        inParams["CommandLine"] = "calc.exe";

        // Method Options
        InvokeMethodOptions methodOptions = new
            InvokeMethodOptions(null,
            System.TimeSpan.MaxValue);

        // Execute the method
        ManagementBaseObject outParams =
            processClass.InvokeMethod("Create",
            inParams, methodOptions);

        // Display results
        // Note: The return code of the method is
        // provided in the "returnValue" property
        // of the outParams object
        Console.WriteLine(
            "Creation of calculator process returned: "
            + outParams["returnValue"]);
        Console.WriteLine("Process ID: "
            + outParams["processId"]);
    }
}

Constructors

InvokeMethodOptions()

Initializes a new instance of the InvokeMethodOptions class for the InvokeMethod(String, Object[]) operation, using default values. This is the parameterless constructor.

InvokeMethodOptions(ManagementNamedValueCollection, TimeSpan)

Initializes a new instance of the InvokeMethodOptions class for an invoke operation using the specified values.

Properties

Context

Gets or sets a WMI context object. This is a name-value pairs list to be passed through to a WMI provider that supports context information for customized operation.

(Inherited from ManagementOptions)
Timeout

Gets or sets the time-out to apply to the operation. Note that for operations that return collections, this time-out applies to the enumeration through the resulting collection, not the operation itself (the ReturnImmediately property is used for the latter). This property is used to indicate that the operation should be performed semi-synchronously.

(Inherited from ManagementOptions)

Methods

Clone()

Returns a copy of the object.

Equals(Object)

Determines whether the specified object is equal to the current object.

(Inherited from Object)
GetHashCode()

Serves as the default hash function.

(Inherited from Object)
GetType()

Gets the Type of the current instance.

(Inherited from Object)
MemberwiseClone()

Creates a shallow copy of the current Object.

(Inherited from Object)
ToString()

Returns a string that represents the current object.
