The June 2025 Power BI update highlights several exciting preview features and an important action-required item for Power BI users. In preview, you can find updates to visual calculations and enhancements to numeric range and field parameters, designed to offer greater flexibility and analytical power within your reports.
There are also new tenant settings for the Azure Maps visual, which require administrators to take action to ensure seamless integration and continued support. - Power BI is turning 10: Celebrate a decade of Power BI innovation. Over the past 10 years, Power BI has evolved from a concept into a global platform empowering millions to transform data into actionable insights. Mark this milestone with special activities and certification prep sessions.
- Microsoft Fabric Community Conferences: Register for the upcoming FabCon Vienna (September 15-18, 2025) and the third annual FabCon in Atlanta, Georgia (March 16-20, 2026).
General
- Secure collaboration on sensitive data in Power BI Desktop: This month's release introduces new features to help organizations securely collaborate on sensitive data within Power BI Desktop.
Reporting
- Updates to visual calculations (preview): The update enhances visual calculations, making it easier to perform advanced data analysis directly in visuals.
- Sparklines (generally available): Sparklines are now fully available, allowing users to visualize trends in table and matrix visuals as part of this release.
- Updates to numeric range and field parameters (preview): This release improves numeric range and field parameter capabilities for more interactive and dynamic reports.
- New tenant settings for Azure Maps visual (action required): New administrative controls for Azure Maps visuals are included, requiring tenant admins to review and update settings.
- Support for mapping South Korean locations: The update expands mapping support to include accurate representation of South Korean geographic data.
- Support for adding paginated reports to org apps (preview): Users can now add paginated reports to organizational apps, broadening report sharing options in this release.
- Use Copilot on reports in org apps (preview): Copilot AI features are now available on reports in organizational apps, enhancing interactivity this month.
Modeling
- Power Query editing in the web for import models (preview): This release allows editing Power Query transformations for import models directly in the Power BI web interface.
- Expanded support for write operations via external tools: The update increases compatibility for write operations when using external tools with Power BI datasets.
Data connectivity
- Connect to Vertica database with the user-installed Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) driver (generally available): Official support is now provided for connecting to Vertica databases using user-installed ODBC drivers.
- QuickBooks Online (beta) connector under deprecation: The release announces the planned deprecation of the QuickBooks Online (beta) connector.
- Connect to PostgreSQL database without manual driver installation: This update simplifies PostgreSQL database connections by removing the need for manual driver installation.
Mobile
- Org apps are now available in Power BI mobile! (preview): Organizational apps can now be accessed on Power BI mobile devices as part of this month's release.
Developers + APIs
- Power BI Project (PBIP) public JSON schemas: Public JSON schemas for PBIP files are now available, supporting better integration and tooling.
Visualizations
- Drill Down Waterfall PRO by ZoomCharts: A new custom visual for advanced waterfall chart analysis with drill-down capabilities is introduced in this release.
- Network Graph by Powerviz: The update adds a custom visual for creating and exploring network graphs in Power BI reports.
- Decomposition Tree - all expanding: The decomposition tree visual now supports expanding all branches, enabling deeper data exploration in this month's release.
