The 2024 release wave 1 plan covers all new functionalities planned to be delivered to market from April 2024 to September 2024. In this article, you'll find the product overview and what's new and planned for AI Builder.

Overview

AI Builder is a low-code AI platform that allows you to use and customize the latest AI models from Azure AI to build more intelligent business solutions. AI Builder gives you access to all the latest Azure AI capabilities—including GPT and document intelligence—in a form factor that's easily accessible to citizen developers, follows responsible AI principles, and includes enterprise-grade governance and security. AI Builer's core capabilities include:

  • GPT models and prompts: Build, test, and deploy GPT prompts to get extensive value from the latest generative AI capabilites from Azure's OpenAI service.
  • Pre-trained AI models: Pre-trained AI models that can be leveraged out of the box to perform specific scenarios like invoice processing, sentiment analysis, text translation, and optical character recognition.
  • Customizable AI Models: Build your own AI models to tailor AI for your specific business need. Includes key model building capabilities focused on intelligent document processing, email classification, object detection, and prediction scenarios.
  • Governance and Security: Control who has access to AI technology and monitor AI usage within your organization.

Investment areas

AI governance and administration
Governance and administration covers the key sets of themes that allows admins to deploy and monitor AI activities:

  • Capacity management
  • Usage monitoring
  • Application lifecycle management
  • Access control
  • Sharing and deploying AI models and prompts

Extend copilot capabilities with AI
Copilots make business users more productive and satisfied at work. But to truly revolutionize the workplace, copilots need to operate in the specific context of each enterprise.

You can author topics using natural language to describe what you want your topic to do. Copilot includes conversational responses, which you can use as a starting point for further development. For example, makers can add Dataverse data records to their GPT prompts, allowing users to get insights. In addition, you can interact with documents directly from copilot tools, which gives you the ability to quickly extract key learning points from documents. It also generates new document templates to enhance productivity.

Prompt builder
Prompt builder is AI Builder's new interface that allows you to build, test, and deploy generative AI prompts for large language models. Prompts are instructions sent to generative AI models to accomplish a task. You can use prompts to perform a wide range of scenarios, like content generation, content classification, insight generation, or information extraction.

Once you create a prompt, you can use it across multiple Power Platform products to invoke generative AI capabilities in every business solution that you are building, whether it's a copilot, an app, a flow, or a Microsoft Dataverse table. Prompts are also solution-aware components and can be triggered with Power Fx expressions. This allows you to reuse and deploy them across your different low-code components.
