FYI: For those of you planning to attend this week’s AIIM Expo 2006 conference in Philadelphia, PA (https://www.aiimexpo.com) , I will be there as part of the Microsoft delegation.

Several of the sessions we’re running during this conference focus on Microsoft’s vision for Enterprise Content Management (ECM), of which Records Management is a key part. Here’s a quick list of Microsoft sessions you should be aware of:

Tuesday, May 16

* The Future of ECM (10:15-11:15AM): This is a panel discussion that we’ll be hosting where several companies will be discussing how they see the requirements for Enterprise Content Management evolving.

Wednesday, May 17:

* Enterprise Content Management in Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 (11:30-12:30PM): In this presentation, we’ll be explaining & demonstrating some of the ECM capabilities in the 2007 release of the Microsoft Office System.

Additionally, Microsoft will have a booth set up where attendees can visit, see presentations, and learn more about the 2007 release throughout the conference. I’ll be staffing the booth at various times, so if anyone wants to discuss Records Management during the conference, please find me there. :)

    I was lpeased to learn that you plan to seek Dod5015.2-STD certification soon after the introduction of the Office 2007 product in concert with the SharePoint 2007 product.

    It would be most helpful forthose of us evaluating ERMS approaches to understand the technical details of your efforts.

    @Alan: We will be happy to share more details about DoD 5015 as we have more to announce. For now, just know that we are pursuing getting the 2007 release certified.

    Currently at my company we use a collaboration tool built on Sharepoint. However, it is not in compliance with our corporate records management policies. We were looking at other alternatives, most being extremely costly.

    After doing some research, I discovered Microsoft would be implementing records management tools within Sharepoint's next release. I learned Microsoft was going to be at the AIIM Expo, so I was approved to attend. After watching the demo and speaking with a Microsoft employee, I was very pleased to see what they had to offer.

    I am happy to say with Microsoft incorporating these tools within Sharepoint, I will be able to bring this software into compliance and well below budget, not to mention make my managers very happy as well.
