Salah ValidationType satu nilai yang menunjukkan apakah XmlReader akan melakukan validasi atau penetapan jenis saat membaca. Defaultnya adalah ValidationType.None.

Nilai Auto enumerasi dan XDR usang dalam .NET Framework versi 2.0.

ValidationType	Deskripsi
DTD	Validasi dilakukan menggunakan definisi jenis dokumen (DTD). Catatan: Properti DtdProcessing juga harus diatur ke Parse.
None	XmlReader tidak memvalidasi data, atau melakukan penugasan jenis apa pun.
Schema	Validasi dan penetapan jenis dilakukan menggunakan skema bahasa definisi Skema XML (XSD). Pembaca mengakses Skema XML menggunakan yang berikut ini: - Menggunakan Schemas properti untuk mengakses objek yang XmlSchemaSet terkait dengan pembaca ini. - Menggunakan skema in-line yang terkandung dalam dokumen instans XML. (Opsi ProcessInlineSchema harus diaktifkan.) - Menggunakan Skema XML yang ditentukan oleh petunjuk lokasi skema (xsi:schemaLocation atau xsi:noNamespaceSchemaLocation atribut) yang ditemukan dalam dokumen instans XML. (Opsi ProcessSchemaLocation harus diaktifkan.)
