Set up Microsoft Teams collaboration and chat (preview)
Important
Some or all of this functionality is available as part of a preview release. The content and the functionality are subject to change.
You can seamlessly collaborate with Dynamics 365 team members by integrating Microsoft Teams collaboration and chat with Microsoft Sustainability Manager.
Turn on Teams chat in Sustainability Manager
To turn on Teams chat in Sustainability Manager, you need link Dynamics 365 records to Teams channels, and then turn on Teams chats inside Dynamics 365.
Link Dynamics 365 records to Teams channels
Let people in your org connect records and views to Teams channels, and let them open records in Teams during meetings. The enhanced collaboration experience allows you to pin records and views to a Teams channel directly from Dynamics 365 and suggests members to be added. Turning on the enhanced collaboration experience requires tenant admin permissions.
For more information about the basic and enhanced experiences, go to:
Basic collaboration experience with the Dynamics 365 app for Microsoft Teams in the Dynamics 365 documentation
Enhanced collaboration experience with the Dynamics 365 app for Microsoft Teams in the Dynamics 365 documentation
You can also allow the creation of private Teams and adding sensitivity/confidentiality labels in the enhanced Microsoft Teams integration experience.
In Sustainability Manager, under Settings on the left navigation, select Teams chat.
To enable the Basic Collaboration Experience, on the Microsoft Teams collaboration and chat page, select the Linking of Dynamics 365 records to Microsoft Teams channels option. Select Save.
To enable the Enhanced Collaboration Experience, select the Turn on Enhanced Microsoft Teams Integration option. To turn on this option, you must have tenant admin permissions. You can set up a connection with any Teams collaboration channel in an app.
In the consent dialog box, select Accept.
Important
When you give consent on behalf of your organization, the app gets full access to all Teams groups and associated content that the users have access to. Although the app has full access, it doesn't read or write to any of that data. It just reads the teams/channels list or creates teams/channels for collaboration.
Note
If you don't select Accept, any user who tries to pin an entity record or view to Teams and shares the tab with another user receives this error message: "The admin has not consented to use user sync feature, you can add them manually." If you receive this error message, go to Error when you pin a record or view of any app to a team channel in the Dynamics 365 documentation.
To allow private Teams and sensitivity/confidentiality labels, select the Turn on Confidential Labels option.
Save your changes. A Collaborate button now appears when you open a record.
Set the Turn on Confidential Labels option to Yes. Users in your organization might collaborate with users both inside and outside the organization. Therefore, content no longer stays behind a firewall but can roam everywhere: across devices, apps, and services. When content roams, you want it to do so in a secure, protected way that meets your organization's business and compliance policies. For more information, see Sensitivity labels for Microsoft Teams. Teams integration lets you create teams that use sensitivity labels, and make the teams private so that only the owner of each team can add other members. To learn how to use sensitivity labels, see Enhanced Collaboration Experience with Microsoft Teams.
Select Save.
Turn on Teams chats (preview)
Allow users to engage in Teams chats with coworkers from Sustainability Manager. For more information about Teams chats, go to Work with Microsoft Teams chat in Dynamics 365 in the Dynamics 365 documentation.
On the Microsoft Teams collaboration and chat page, select the Turn on Microsoft Teams chats inside Dynamics 365 (preview) option. Select the option to either allow Teams chats for all Dynamics 365 apps or for selected Dynamics 365 apps.
Important
You must be a tenant administrator to provide the initial consent. Application administrators can then enable the preview for other instances.
To show Teams chats on a record's timeline, select the Show Teams chats on the connected record's timeline (Preview) option.
Important
You must be a global administrator to turn on this setting.
Save your changes.
You can open a record and verify that you're able to view the chats and channels that are related to that record.
For more information, go to Open Teams chats and channels related to a record in the Dynamics 365 documentation.
