Pemartisian Application-Level
Sampel ini menunjukkan partisi tingkat aplikasi di mana data disimpan dalam tabel yang dioptimalkan memori atau tabel berbasis disk tergantung pada apakah pesanan jatuh sebelum atau sesudah tanggal tertentu. Semua pesanan yang lebih baru atau sama dengan hotDate berada dalam tabel yang dioptimalkan memori dan semua pesanan sebelum hotDate berada di tabel berbasis disk. Asumsikan beban kerja OLTP ekstrem dengan banyak transaksi bersamaan. Aturan bisnis ini (pesanan terbaru dalam tabel yang dioptimalkan memori) harus diberlakukan bahkan jika beberapa transaksi bersamaan mencoba mengubah hotDate.
Sampel ini tidak menggunakan Tabel Terpartisi untuk tabel berbasis disk tetapi melacak titik pemisahan eksplisit antara dua tabel menggunakan tabel ketiga. Titik pemisahan dapat digunakan untuk memastikan bahwa data yang baru disisipkan selalu disisipkan ke dalam tabel yang sesuai berdasarkan tanggal. Ini juga dapat digunakan untuk menentukan di mana mencari data. Data yang terlambat tiba masih masuk ke tabel yang sesuai.
