How to: View a Build Report

Team Foundation Build uses build definitions to manage the conditions under which a single solution or a set of solutions are built. Before viewing a build summary report on a build definition, you must run a build. For more information, see How to: Queue or Start a Build Definition. You can view build summary reports on build types using Team Explorer. For more information, see Using Team Explorer.

Required Permissions

To perform this procedure, you must have the Team Foundation Server View project-level information permission set to Allow. For more information, see Team Foundation Server Permissions.

To view a build report

  1. In Team Explorer, locate Builds and select it.

  2. Click View Builds on the Builds menu. Alternately, you can right-click the Builds node in Team Explorer and click View Builds. Build Explorer appears and it displays the completed and in-progress builds. Click the Queued tab to access the in-progress builds. Click the Completed tab to access the completed builds.

    Important noteImportant Note:

If you do not see all the builds you are expecting to see, check the filters located on the top of Build Explorer.

  3. In the summary report, right-click the completed or queued build that you want to view, and on the drop-down menu, click Open.

The build report displays its own tab with the name and version number of the build. For more information, see Overview of Build Reports.
