View Historical Data

You can view historical data about a branch, folder, or file by using the History window.

This topic explains how to display the History window in Visual Studio. The History window can also be viewed from the command line by using the History Command.

Required Permissions

To perform these procedures, you must have the Read permission set to Allow. For more information, see Team Foundation Server Permissions.

Procedure

You can view the History window from a few places in Visual Studio. The most typical place to open the History window is from an item that you are viewing in Source Control Explorer.

To display the History window

  • In Source Control Explorer, right-click the branch, folder, or file and then click View History.

The History window provides detailed historical data about a team project, branch, folder, or file. For more information about the data displayed by this window or the actions that you can take, see Using the History Window.
