EDI Schemas

Microsoft BizTalk Server EDI and AS2 uses the following types of schemas to process incoming messages and generate outgoing messages:

  • Document schemas that define the message body

  • Header service schemas that define the message envelope, and acknowledgment control schemas that define the envelope and body of technical and functional acknowledgments

  • Interchange XML (batch) schemas that define the envelope of a preserved batch.

  • A property schema that defines EDI context properties. For more information, see EDI Context Properties.
