Exercises - Create a customer and a new office furniture item

This exercise is written to use the Cronus sample company from the US version of Business Central. You might need to make adjustments to the steps if you use the sample company from your country or region.

Scenario - Create a customer 

As the order processor, you are responsible for setting up new customers. A new customer, Top Conferences, has contacted your company and requested to buy conference packages. You must create a card for the customer in the database so that a quote and sale process can start. 

Because this is a business customer, you will create the customer record by using a customer template. 

Task

Create the new customer.  

Steps 

  1. Select the search for page icon in the top-right corner of the page, enter Customers, and then select the related link. 

  2. In the ribbon, select New and then select a customer template.

  3. In the Name field, enter Top Conferences

  4. In the Credit Limit field, enter 10,000

  5. Expand the Address & Contact FastTab. 

  6. In the Address field, enter 612 South Sunset Drive

  7. In the City field, enter MIAMI

  8. In the Contact field, enter Mr. Mike Nash

  9. Expand the Shipping FastTab. 

  10. Select the drop-down menu of the Shipment Method Code field and then select CFR

  11. Press ESC to close the customer card.

Scenario - Create a new office furniture item 

As the product designer at CRONUS USA Inc., you are responsible for setting up new items. The vendor of the HASSELT conference tables has informed you that the matching chairs are now available. CRONUS has decided to add this item to their item catalog. 

The new item must be set up according to the following conditions: 

  • The HASSELT Conference Chairs will be purchased by pcs at LCY 150.00. 

  • The item will be sold at LCY 240.00 by pcs. 

  • The item belongs to the item category CHAIR.

 Task 

Create the new office furniture item.  

Steps 

  1. Select the search for page icon in the top-right corner of the page, enter Items, and then select the related link.  

  2. In the ribbon, select New and then select the item template. 

  3. Select OK

  4. In the Description field, enter HASSELT, Conference Chair

  5. In the Item Category Code field, select CHAIR

  6. Expand the Costs & Posting FastTab. 

  7. In the Unit Cost field, enter 150 and then confirm the message. 

  8. Expand the Prices & Sales FastTab. 

  9. In the Unit Price field, enter 240.  

  10. Press ESC to close the Item Card page.
