Examples

[Visual Basic]

The following example modifies the DebuggerType property in the integrated development environment (IDE):

' add reference to Microsoft.VisualStudio.VCProjectEngine
Imports EnvDTE
Imports Microsoft.VisualStudio.VCProjectEngine

Public Module Module1
    Sub Test()
        Dim mystring As String
        Dim prj As VCProject
        Dim cfgs, tools As IVCCollection
        Dim cfg As VCConfiguration
        Dim tool As VCDebugSettings
        prj = DTE.Solution.Projects.Item(1).Object
        cfgs = prj.Configurations
        cfg = cfgs.Item(1)
        tool = cfg.DebugSettings
        tool.DebuggerType = TypeOfDebugger.DbgMixed
    End Sub
End Module

Remarks

If you specify a debugger type that does not match the code you are debugging, you cannot step into certain sections of code. For example, if you specify Managed debugger, you cannot step into unmanaged code. Use the TypeOfDebugger enumeration to change the value of this property. See How to: Compile Example Code for Project Model Extensibility for information about how to compile and run this example.
