Il FormView controllo esegue il rendering di un modello diverso per la riga di dati in base alla modalità corrente del controllo (specificata dalla CurrentMode proprietà ). Nella tabella seguente viene illustrato il modello usato per ogni modalità.

Usare la ItemTemplate proprietà per definire la propria interfaccia utente per la riga di dati quando il FormView controllo è in modalità di sola lettura. Il modello di elemento contiene in genere controlli per visualizzare i valori dei campi di un record, nonché i pulsanti di comando per modificare, inserire ed eliminare un record.
Per specificare il modello personalizzato, posizionare <ItemTemplate> prima i tag tra i tag di apertura e chiusura del FormView controllo. È quindi possibile elencare il contenuto del modello tra i tag di apertura e chiusura <ItemTemplate> . Per visualizzare i valori del campo dell'origine dati associata al controllo, usare un'espressione di data binding. Per creare pulsanti di comando che eseguono le operazioni predefinite di eliminazione, modifica e nuovo record, aggiungere un controllo pulsante di comando al modello con la relativa CommandName proprietà impostata su uno dei valori elencati nella tabella seguente.
