データの分析、グラフ作成、および通信のためのツールを備えた Microsoft 表計算ソフトウェアのファミリ
Dear TS0806,
I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble with Excel.
After researching, I have some technical explanation:
- Missing Glyphs in MS P Gothic
MS P Gothic is a legacy font and may not include all glyphs for modern Unicode characters or certain kanji variants. When a glyph is missing, Microsoft Office applications automatically substitute it from a fallback font—often Yu Gothic, which is the default modern Japanese UI font in Windows. - Font Linking in Windows
Windows uses a system called font linking to ensure characters are always rendered, even if the selected font doesn’t support them. This means:- You may think you're using MS P Gothic.
- But for unsupported characters, Windows silently pulls glyphs from Yu Gothic or another fallback font.
- Character Encoding Differences
When you retype a character (like 水) manually, it may be encoded differently (e.g., full-width vs. half-width, or different Unicode normalization), which can affect how the font engine renders it. That’s why retyping sometimes “fixes” the issue.
If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to reach me and I will be glad to assist you further.
Appreciate your patience with us.
Looking forward to your response and have a great day ahead!!
