protected virtual void RenderContents (System.Web.UI.HtmlTextWriter writer);
abstract member RenderContents : System.Web.UI.HtmlTextWriter -> unit

Protected Overridable Sub RenderContents (writer As HtmlTextWriter)
Parameters
- writer
- HtmlTextWriter
The HtmlTextWriter containing methods to render the target-specific output.
Remarks
The RenderContents method generates the inner markup, between the beginning and ending tags for the control. Typically, markup is generated by Render, which calls methods in the following order:
Override RenderContents to generate target-specific inner markup to send to the client browser.
The RenderContents base method calls WebControl.RenderContents. The WebControl.RenderContents base method calls Control.Render, which in turn calls Control.RenderChildren. Thus, overrides of RenderContents should call the RenderContents base method only if its processing is in addition to, rather than instead of, Control.Render.
Notes to Inheritors
For a composite control, you must ensure that the child controls are rendered. If you override the RenderContents(HtmlTextWriter) method and do not call its base method, you can cause the child controls to be rendered by calling RenderChildren(HtmlTextWriter) which, if not overridden, calls RenderChildren(HtmlTextWriter) from the RenderContents(HtmlTextWriter) override.
