How to Configure the Fallback Status Point in Configuration Manager

Use the following procedure to verify that the Configuration Manager 2007 fallback status point is configured correctly for intranet and Internet connections, and modify the throttling configuration if this is required.

To help you decide if you need to modify the throttling settings, see Determine If You Need to Configure Throttle Settings for the Fallback Status Point in Configuration Manager.

To configure the fallback status point:

  1. In the Configuration Manager console, navigate to System CenterConfiguration Manager / Site Database / Site Management / <site code> - <site name> / Site Settings / Site Systems.

  2. Expand the site system server with the fallback status point role installed.

  3. In the results pane, right-click ConfigMgr fallback status point, and then click Properties.

  4. On the General tab, confirmed that the option Allowed client connections displays the correct setting for the site system's server placement and configuration:

    • Allow intranet-only connections

    • Allow both intranet and Internet client connections

    These options are set automatically and cannot be directly changed by the administrator.

  5. Specify the value for Number of messages and modify this if required.

  6. Specify the value for Throttle interval (in seconds) and modify this if required.

  7. Click OK.
