Support policy
The Microsoft OLE DB Driver for SQL Server follows the Modern Lifecycle Policy with a few additions. This policy ensures that customers receive continuous support and updates, including security fixes and new features.
- Driver major versions receive at least two years of mainstream support following the release of the next major version.
- Driver major versions only receive patches on their latest minor version release.
- Driver major versions included in a retail version of Microsoft SQL Server have their support dates extended to align with the support dates of SQL Server.
Customers are encouraged to install the latest version of the Microsoft OLE DB Driver for SQL Server to ensure they have the latest fixes and security updates. For released versions and dates, see the release notes.
Note
Extended driver support is only available as part of an extended support agreement for SQL Server.
