Copilot Credits overview

Copilot Credits are the metered currency used to pay for Microsoft Copilot consumption across your tenant. This article explains what Copilot Credits are, what they cover, and the purchase options available.

What are Copilot Credits?

Copilot Credits are consumption units that meter usage across Copilot workloads. A single credit pool can be consumed by:

  • Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat sessions for users without a Microsoft 365 Copilot license.
  • Copilot Studio agents and Dynamics 365 first-party agents.
  • Work IQ APIs that let developers build applications that reason over Microsoft 365 data, which includes email, meetings, documents, and chats, while preserving existing permissions, compliance, and governance.

Purchase options

Microsoft offers three ways to buy Copilot Credits. Choose the option that matches your usage pattern and commitment level.

Pay-as-you-go

Use Pay-as-you-go (PayGo) when usage is unpredictable, low-volume, or in early evaluation. PayGo requires no upfront purchase. Azure meters costs and can attribute them to specific departments or environments.

  • Price: $0.01 per credit.
  • Where to purchase: Through your Azure subscription.
  • MACC eligibility: Counts toward your Microsoft Azure Consumption Commitment.

Copilot Credit Capacity Packs

Use Capacity Packs when usage is steady and predictable. You can purchase multiple Capacity Packs to scale with demand.

  • Price: $200 per tenant, per month (25,000 Copilot Credits).
  • Term: Credits reset every month and are paid up front.
  • Where to purchase: Through the Microsoft 365 admin center.

Copilot Credits Pre-Purchase Plan

Use Copilot Credits Pre-Purchase Plan (P3) for enterprise-scale deployments that span multiple Copilot workloads.

  • Price: Built-in tiered discounts based on commitment size.
  • Term: One year, paid up front.
  • Where to purchase: Through your Azure subscription.
  • MACC eligibility: Counts toward your Microsoft Azure Consumption Commitment.
