Transitioning Teams Android Device Management from Teams Admin Center to the Teams Rooms Pro Management Portal

Roadmap: 555235

As part of our ongoing mission to deliver a modern, secure, and scalable one-stop management portal for admins, we're transitioning Teams Android device management from the Teams admin center (TAC) to the Teams Rooms Pro Management portal (PMP).

This consolidation brings management of all Teams devices, including Teams Rooms on Windows, Teams Rooms on Android, Teams phones, and Teams panels, into a single, unified portal, giving IT Admins a consistent, and seamless experience for managing their Teams devices at scale.

This article serves as the main information source for this transition. We'll continue updating it with timelines, milestones, migration guidance, and readiness steps as the rollout progresses.

Why This Change?

Organizations today manage a diverse fleet of Teams devices across meeting rooms, shared spaces, and personal work environments. Managing these devices across multiple portals creates operational complexity and fragmented workflows.

By consolidating Teams device management into the Teams Rooms Pro Management Portal, admins gain:

  • One unified management experience across all Teams device types.

  • Enhanced monitoring and operational insights.

  • Advanced automation and AI-assisted management capabilities.

What’s Changing?

Starting June 2026, device inventory, monitoring, and management for the following Android-based Teams devices will transition from TAC to the Teams Rooms Pro Management Portal:

  • Teams Rooms on Android (MTR-A)

  • Teams Phones

  • Teams Panels

The following capabilities will be available, and enhanced in PMP:

  • Complete device inventory, including metadata and app information.

  • Remote actions (restart, log collection, sign-in, sign-out, provisioning, and more).

  • Update management (manual and automated).

  • Device settings and configuration profiles.

  • Device health signals and monitoring.

  • SIP device management.

Once the transition is complete, PMP will become the primary portal for all Teams device management, and the overlapping device management functionality in TAC will be gradually retired to streamline the experience.

How Migration Will Work

The transition will occur in phases. Device capabilities will become available in the Pro Management portal as they reach General Availability (GA).

When Android device management reaches GA:

  • Your existing devices will automatically appear in the Pro Management portal.

  • Device management actions in TAC will begin redirecting to Pro management portal.

  • Clear advance communication will be provided before any TAC workflows are retired.

There's no immediate action required today. More detailed migration guidance, timelines, and readiness instructions will be shared as we approach the transition window.

Migration Timeline

Below is the current high-level rollout plan. Dates are subject to refinement as development progresses. This section will be updated regularly.

What Happens to the Teams Admin Center (TAC)?

The Teams admin center will continue to play an important role in overall Teams administration. However, for Android device management, overlapping functionalities will gradually transition to Pro Management portal as it becomes the primary management experience.

With this consolidation, our goal is to ensure a smooth, predictable transition with clear communication at every step and no impact to device operations.

Accessing the Teams Rooms Pro Management Portal

  1. Admins with Global Administrator or Teams Administrator or Teams Device administrator roles can access the Pro Management portal at https://portal.rooms.microsoft.com.

  2. Ensure required URLs are allowlisted per instructions at Enroll a device.

  3. Licensing- Organizations using any Microsoft Teams Rooms license (Teams Rooms Pro/ Teams Rooms Basic) or a Teams shared device license can access Pro Management portal.

What You Should Do Now

While no immediate action is required, we recommend taking a few simple steps to prepare:

  • Explore the Pro Management portal to understand its capabilities and upcoming enhancements.

  • Confirm required network endpoints are allow-listed to ensure seamless access.

  • Familiarize your operations teams with the portal experience ahead of migration.

  • Monitor this article and Message Center post (MC1227622) for timeline updates and readiness guidance.
