ContentsResizedEventArgs.NewRectangle Property

Definition

Represents the requested size of the RichTextBox control.

public:
 property System::Drawing::Rectangle NewRectangle { System::Drawing::Rectangle get(); };
public System.Drawing.Rectangle NewRectangle { get; }
member this.NewRectangle : System.Drawing.Rectangle
Public ReadOnly Property NewRectangle As Rectangle

Property Value

A Rectangle that represents the requested size of the RichTextBox control.

Examples

The following code example demonstrates the use of this member. In the example, an event handler reports on the occurrence of the RichTextBox.ContentsResized event. This report helps you to learn when the event occurs and can assist you in debugging. To report on multiple events or on events that occur frequently, consider replacing MessageBox.Show with Console.WriteLine or appending the message to a multiline TextBox.

To run the example code, paste it into a project that contains an instance of type RichTextBox named RichTextBox1. Then ensure that the event handler is associated with the RichTextBox.ContentsResized event.

private void RichTextBox1_ContentsResized(Object sender, ContentsResizedEventArgs e) {

System.Text.StringBuilder messageBoxCS = new System.Text.StringBuilder();
messageBoxCS.AppendFormat("{0} = {1}", "NewRectangle", e.NewRectangle );
messageBoxCS.AppendLine();
MessageBox.Show(messageBoxCS.ToString(), "ContentsResized Event" );
}
Private Sub RichTextBox1_ContentsResized(sender as Object, e as ContentsResizedEventArgs) _
     Handles RichTextBox1.ContentsResized

    Dim messageBoxVB as New System.Text.StringBuilder()
    messageBoxVB.AppendFormat("{0} = {1}", "NewRectangle", e.NewRectangle)
    messageBoxVB.AppendLine()
    MessageBox.Show(messageBoxVB.ToString(),"ContentsResized Event")

End Sub

Remarks

When text is entered into the RichTextBox control, the RichTextBox control determines the proper size of the control in order to display all of the contents of the control. You can use the NewRectangle property in an event handler for the ContentsResized event of the RichTextBox control to properly size the control to display all of the control's contents.
