Microsoft Employees Give Where They Live
At Microsoft, we believe in the power of our people, partners and technology to help accelerate change and make the world a better place.
October marks the 30th Microsoft Employee Giving Campaign and yesterday we were delighted to announce that since campaign began, employees in the U.S. have raised $1 billion in cash for more than 31,000 nonprofits and community organizations around the world.
The milestone was celebrated with employees and guests at our Redmond campus during a special town hall event which included CEOSteve Ballmer, Microsoft Chairman and Founder Bill Gates andExecutive Vice President and General Counsel Brad Smith.
This is truly a moment to celebrate - not just because Microsoft employees have raised a record amount of money – but because our nonprofit partners have put these funds to work to deliver life-changing services to hundreds of millions of people in the US and around the world.
As part of our overall commitment to corporate citizenship, Microsoft takes an active role in supporting and encouraging our employees to support their local communities, such as right here in Atlanta, which is home to many of our employees.
Our Giving Campaign is one of the world’s largest employee giving programs, fueled by the passion of employees such as Zev Yanovich, the Operator Channel Lead for Latin America, who donates his time by participating in the Microsoft Alpharetta Cycling team, who goes the extra mile by biking for a cause: multiple sclerosis. Zev leads the nearly 30 biker team and dedicates his time to raising money and recruiting new members to join the team. To date, the Microsoft Alpharetta Cycling team has raised close to $17,000 for multiple sclerosis with the help of Zev and his commitment.
We’re so proud to do business here, and – just as importantly – we are honored to be an active participant in helping to solve the issues that people in this community care about. Microsoft was founded on the belief that people and technology can make a difference in the world and the annual employee Giving Campaign is a great example of how that belief comes to life, year-in and year-out.
