Content Network sunset in the US market
In the summer of 2015 support for Content Ads ended for all customers outside of the United States. Since then, Content Ads for U.S. customers have continued to serve in Windows Media Player and Windows Apps.
We are now announcing that the sunset of Content Ads for U.S. customers will begin June 30th, at which time Bing Ads will no longer serve Content ad groups. On July 30th, you will no longer be able to create content ad groups and over the following months, we will automatically migrate Content ad groups to Search-only ad distribution.
Starting July 30th, new errors will be displayed for the following Campaign Management and Bulk service operations:
- If you try to add or update an ad group with ad distribution set only to Content, the CampaignServiceAdGroupMediumNotAllowedForDistributionChannel error will be returned.
- If you try to add or update an ad group with ad distribution set to both Search and Content, the operation will succeed, however the ad distribution will be stored as Search only.
By end of Q3 calendar 2017, we will migrate the remaining Content ad groups to Search only. When you retrieve the ad groups which were previously set to Search and Content or Content only, the ad distribution will be Search only.
The sunset of Content Ads is a part of Bing Ads continued effort to bring the highest quality of traffic for all Bing Ads customers.
