Silverlight DeepZoom Tutorial
At Mix we announced a new Silverlight v2 feature called DeepZoom. In basic terms DeepZoom allows you to create a composite image with extremely hi-resolution which is streamed to the user as they access different parts of the image at different zoom levels. The best way to get your head around what this means in terms of user experience its worth taking a look at the new Hard Rock Web site which uses the technology to show off their collection of memorabilia. You can also watch the Mix session on this example here.
If you want to put together your own DeepZoom application then you Dan Waters has put together an excellent tutorial to get you started. The tool used to prepare images for DeepZoom can be found here.
