Friday App Shout-Out: Time Tracks and Campus Access
It's double-header time today on the app shout-out. Actually more than that, as the second shout-out covers a bunch of apps...but I'm getting ahead of myself. On to the apps!
Time Tracks
Today's first app, Time Tracks, is from repeat guest LCG Technologies, creator of Ice Cream Run, Hopper Bopper, and LCG Super Word Search. Like their previous 3 apps, Time Tracks is free, but this time LCG has chosen to offer a utility app rather than a game. Time Tracks, as the name suggests, allows you to track the time spent on specific tasks on a given project. You can share your time tracking reports via SkyDrive, or email. Download it today!
Campus Access Apps
The next guest on the shout-out is actually a series of apps put together for select academic institutions by developer Dubmenow, inc. These "Campus Access" apps provide useful information for a given academic institution (such as Dominican University, shown above), including Athletic, Academic Calendar, contact information, and more. Here's a list of the available schools:
- MMobile Dawg (Southern Illinois University Carbondale)
- Dominican University
- This is Nevada (University of Nevada, Reno)
- LEC Mobile (Lake Erie College)
- UW-Eau Claire Mobile
- Pace University
- Calhoun Community College
- myBSCMobile (Bluefield State College)
- WGTC (West Georgia Technical College)
- Hawaii Pacific University
- Snead State (Snead State Community College)
If you're attending (or know someone who's attending) one of these institutions, be sure to grab the app for a handy reference!
Office Hours
I offer weekly Office Hours, alternating between the Microsoft Store in Tyson's Corner, VA, and our Reston, VA office. If you're working on an app for Windows Phone, or Windows Store, or you need help integrating Windows Azure services into your solutions, I can help.
You can check out my current Office Hours schedule at:
https://usdpe.ohours.org/devhammer
I also post my next upcoming Office Hours session on the DC/Baltimore Windows App Developers Meetup group, which also happens to be a great resource for other app development related events, so you should join the group.
Who's Next?
Would you like to be the next recipient of a shout-out for your app? You can get links, videos, and more for free at App Builder. Sign up takes only a few seconds, and the resources can help make you the next app rockstar. And don't miss the newly-launched App Builder rewards program. Build apps and earn rewards, at your pace.
Drop me a note if you're working on a Windows 8 app and have questions or need advice, or if you've published your app already, let me know so I can spread the word!
