BlackBerry Plug-in for Visual Studio

For those of you who don't know, I am a University of Waterloo alumus. Research In Motion's headquarters is located in Waterloo, right next to the university. In fact, I have spent a couple of internships at RIM, working on their device software on the BlackBerries. That's why it's particular interesting for me to see that RIM has announced a BlackBerry Plug-in for Visual Studio. It's like my 2 worlds are mashing together :)

It's really great to see another industry leader in handheld device adopt Visual Studio as an extensibility platform to incorporate their development tools. This is really what our team's mission is all about - to foster a vibrant ecosystem with innovative tools. It's really great to see the folks over at RIM do such a nice job in building this plug-in.

The BlackBerry Plug-in for Visual Studio will not be available until later this year. I can't wait to see it. You can read more about this forthcoming product from RIM here.

Very interesting! Is it a add-in or a package in VSX terms?

Hey Dmitry - this is a package. If you view the screenshot on their site, you can see that they have their own project system, showing up in the Solution Explorer. Such integration is not possible via an add-in.
