New Knowledge Network Build Available! 1.0.0454.13

  • Hello KN fans. We're happy to announce that we have released a new build of Knowledge Network software on BetaPlace that fixes a few problems that have been reported since our first Beta release. The issues fixed in this build include:

    • An error that occurs in Outlook after you run several analysis sessions. The error message says “Can not display folder”
    • If you have a contact with a title but no department value filled in, then you get a contact resolution failure.
    • The KN feedback tool will not run on Windows Vista

The new build was posted on June 30, 2006 and updated on July 1, 2006. To double check to see if you the latest release, check under help/about and look for Version 1.0.0454.13.

We encourage you to download and install the latest build.

    Hello Knowledge Network Team

How do we get in touch with people within the Knowledge Network Team and better yet, easier access to the Knowledge Network software.

I am taking part in the Office 2007 Beta. Is KN part of this? Where can I download KN?

    Thanks

The KN download is available to customers taking part in the SharePoint 2007 Beta 2. KN is a separate download. If you already have access to SharePoint 2007 Beta 2 on the Microsoft Betaplace site, then you also have access to KN.

If you do have this access, once you get to the main page on Microsoft Betaplace, you can follow the link for Knowledge Network that can be found by following the “Other Files” link under the “Beta Downloads” node in left navigation bar. From here you can follow the instructions to download the actual files for the KN software and associated KN documentation.

If you don't have access to SharePoint 2007 Beta 2 on the Microsoft Betaplace site, then you won't be able to access and use KN yet. We will update information about broader KN availability in the coming months.

Apologies for my previous question, I see now that there was already a question on this subject. I have successfully installed KN, but am having problems with it scanning my email, as I getting the following error message:

Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt.

Is there a site for submitting bugs or issues?

    Thanks

I have managed to download and install the software.

However, I get an error message when KN scans my email:

Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt.

Any ideas as to why this is happening?

    Thanks

Am very glad to see the ongoing progress being made. I think that Knowledge Networks is really one of the key differentiators between Microsoft Portal and search technologies and competitors. Keep up the good work!

    Hi Tom,
I used to get the same error when I used the initial build (v 1.0.0.0)
But then I found the latest one here (v 1.0.0454.13) which works fine.
Please check which version you are using.
    Regards,
    Sridhar

Please use the Betaplace KN beta newsgroup for support related questions rather than using this blog. If you have access to Betaplace, then select the “Participation Info” link along the top and choose “Newsgroups”. This will explain how to connect to the beta newsgroups. Please note that these newsgroups are private newsgroups only. There are 2 specific KN newsgroups once you have this configured:
    Microsoft.beta.office12.client.knowledge_network
    Microsoft.beta.office12.server.knowledge_network

    Tom –
Please post further information to the Betaplace KN beta newsgroup or send us further information via email to the alias KNBlog at Microsoft.com
We suspect that your AD server is not patched at the right level. Can you please inspect a file named ntdsa.dll in the SYSTEM32 directory on all of your AD servers and provide us with a timestamp and version number of the DLL via email or via the newsgroup referenced above. This information will assist us in determining whether or not you have the right service pack applied.
