The Message Center Connector allows you to automatically sync messages from the message center in Microsoft 365 admin center to a plan in Microsoft Planner, on a set schedule. A lot of actionable information about changes to Microsoft 365 services arrives in the Microsoft 365 message center. Syncing these messages to Planner helps you keep track of which changes require tasks to be done, when, and by whom, and to track each task to completion. Tracking messages as tasks in Planner also allows you to note specific details within a message, and tag them to check on later.

Prerequisites

To use this connector you need to have an admin role in the Microsoft 365 admin center, and access to the Planner plan that you are syncing to. Also, in order for the connector to run, you need to go to Microsoft 365 admin center > Health > Message center and turn on Planner syncing.

Known issues and limitations

  1. If Planner syncing is not turned on in the Microsoft 365 admin center, then the connector will not run.
  2. If the user who set up Planner syncing loses access to either the Planner plan or the Microsoft 365 admin center, the connector will no longer work.
  3. This connector is only used to schedule the syncing process and does not actually handle the syncing of messages.
