Trace inventory dimensions (form)
Applies To: Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 Feature Pack, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012
Click Inventory management > Inquiries > Transactions > Transactions. Click Inventory, and then click Trace.
Use this form to trace inventory dimensions throughout Microsoft Dynamics AX. The form shows receipts and issues for a transaction in relation to a specific inventory dimension. The trace is illustrated as a tree structure.
Note
To see the settlements attached to an item, right-click the item, and then click Settlements or Settlement tree.
Navigating the form
The following tables provide descriptions for the controls in this form.

Setup |
The inventory dimension trace is displayed differently, depending on the check boxes that you select on the Setup tab. For example, select the Product name check box to have the product name displayed in the dimension trace. |

Forward or backward |
Select Forward to see where the items have been used, or select Backward to trace the supply of the items. |
Date check |
A list of inventory dimensions by date. For example, for a vendor invoice updated on December 1, the list includes only the item transactions purchased before December 1. Note In the Trace by area, you can select different product and storage dimensions to limit the trace to specific product and storage dimensions. For example, if you select the Batch number check box, only those item transactions with a common batch number are listed. |
