Dynamic Distribution Groups are not Visible in GAL After Migrating from Exchange 2000 to Exchange 2007
Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 will reach end of support on April 11, 2017. To stay supported, you will need to upgrade. For more information, see Resources to help you upgrade your Office 2007 servers and clients.
After installing Exchange 2007 in the same organization as Exchange 2000, when new dynamic distribution groups are created, they are not visible in the global address list (GAL) from any version of the client.
Resolution
In Exchange 2000, Dynamic distribution groups do not exist in Exchange 2000. Because your GAL was created in Exchange 2000, the dynamic distribution groups are not recognized. Exchange 2000 and Exchange 2003 GALs use the LDAP filtering method and Exchange 2007 uses the OPATH filtering method.
To resolve this issue, you must upgrade the GAL to Exchange 2007. For detailed instructions, see How to Upgrade Default Address Lists from LDAP Filters to OPATH Filters.
Note
After you upgrade the GAL, you must update the GAL so that the changes can take effect. For more information see, How to Update a Global Address List.
