Groove Server 2010 key capabilities

Groove Server 2010 provides the following functionality:

  • Integrates SharePoint Workspace user management with Active Directory.

  • Automates SharePoint Workspace account configuration.

  • Distributes usage policies to SharePoint Workspace users.

  • Enhances support for global SharePoint Workspace communications.

  • Supports secure SharePoint Workspace management.

What’s new for Groove Server 2010 Manager

Groove Server 2010 Manager includes the following new features and improvements:

  • Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) and Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4) are supported, allowing more flexibility in address allocation.

  • Groove Server Manager is installed with Windows Firewall 2008 enabled, for system-level protection of Groove Server Manager.

  • Active Directory is fully integrated with Groove Server Manager, enabling enterprise-wide user management within the context of existing Active Directory forests.

  • Management policies are consolidated and simplified to facilitate deployment of usage policies.

  • Automatic account configuration is available for SharePoint Workspace users on the public Internet and on enterprise intranets, and for automatically migrating unmanaged users to managed user status.

What’s new for Groove 2010 Server Relay

Groove Server 2010 Relay includes the following new features and improvements:

  • Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) and Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4) are supported, allowing more flexibility in address allocation.

  • Groove Server Relay is installed with Windows Server 2008 Firewall enabled, for system-level protection of Groove Server Relay.

  • Groove Server Relay runs as a local service (instead of a local system), allowing for improved security with tighter access control.

  • Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption helps protect the Relay server’s administrative Web pages.

  • Relay administrator authentication can be configured for administrator groups or users, providing more flexibility in granting access to Groove Server Relay administrative Web pages.

  • The Groove Server Relay manages Microsoft Groove Server SharePoint Workspace user provisioning to optimize performance. Each Groove Server Relay is assigned to a single Relay pool on a single Groove Server Manager.

What’s new for Groove Server 2010

  • Groove Server 2010 includes Groove Server Manager and Groove Server Relay. It does not include Groove Data Bridge.
