Project Operations for stocked or production-based scenarios
Select the Project Operations for stocked or production-based scenario if you have already deployed and are using finance and operations apps, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management, and manufacturing features.
The stocked or production-based scenario is used for architecture, engineering, consulting companies, and for project-based manufacturing.
With the stocked or production-based scenario for Project Operations, you get the following capabilities:
An extensive project management system that manages inventoried items and job or production order costing for internal and billable projects for schedules and financials.
A fully functional expense management system that includes policy enforcements and reimbursements for tracking project and non-project expenses.
An International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)-compliant project accounting and revenue recognition system.
The process to deploy Project Operations for a stocked or production-based scenario is as follows:
Redeem software subscriptions
- Project Operations (CRM): Required to manage customer relationships and project sales.
- Office 365 Project Operations: Supports collaboration and productivity for project teams.
- Assign licenses to users: Ensure that all relevant users are assigned the appropriate licenses to access and use Project Operations features.
Post deployment actions
- Establish a dual-write connection: Set up a connection between the finance and operations apps and Dataverse to enable synchronized data flow.
- Update security settings: Configure the necessary security roles and permissions in the Project Operations environment to ensure proper access control.
- Configure and run dual-write table maps: Map the tables between the connected systems to ensure data synchronization for entities such as customers, products, and operations.
- Import configuration and demo data (optional): Load sample data or configuration templates to validate the deployment and test features in a controlled environment.
Tips for Successful Deployment
Ensure all necessary licenses and subscriptions are active before starting the process.
Use Lifecycle Services (LCS) to monitor and manage the deployment steps.
Verify the dual-write configuration thoroughly to avoid data sync issues during production.
