Been a little crazy - but a blog before Easter holidays

I have been on my travels recently and have hooked up with some of my PFE (Premier Field Engineers) in Portugal where we have been attending a course. This was brilliantly presented by  Paresh Nhathalal who is one of the most technically brilliant Engineers I know when it comes to anything to do with Active Directory and related technlogies. Anyway as you do in these techno get-togethers we start discussing our own real-world experiences with our customers, and a particularly interesting area came up. This was do to with how to optimize and also track inefficient searches in the Active Directory that visit a large number of entries. Well as part of the discussion reference was made to the following article

Tracking Expensive and Inefficient Searches

https://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms808539.aspx

"Expensive searches are searches that visit a large number of entries. The efficiency of a search is measured by the number of entries returned against the number of entries visited. For example, a search that goes through 500 entries could be considered an expensive search. If the search returns 500 entries after searching through 500 entries, then you have an efficient search. An inefficient search returns five entries after searching through 500 entries"
