How to View Direct Mailer Job Errors

You can view Direct Mailer job errors to obtain more information about specific jobs or properties that do not function as expected.

Before you can view Direct Mailer job errors, you must determine which database Direct Mailer uses. To find the SQL Server name and the Database name, open Commerce Server Manager, expand Global Resources, and then click the Direct Mailer resource. In the right pane, the Direct Mailer Database connection string contains the SQL Server name (Data Source) and the Database name (Initial Catalog).

In the Connection dialog box in SQL Server Enterprise Manager or Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio, enter the values for the SQL Server name and the Database name that was used by Direct Mailer.

To view Direct Mailer job errors on SQL Server 2005 or SQL Server Express

  1. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Microsoft SQL 2005, and then click SQL Server Management Studio or SQL Server Management Studio Express.

  2. In SQL Server Management Studio or SQL Server Management Studio Express, expand the name of the database server that contains the Direct Mailer database.

  3. Expand Databases, expand DirectMailer, expand Tables, right-click dml_job_errors, and then point to Open Table.

    The Direct Mailer job errors are listed in the table in the right pane.

To view Direct Mailer job errors on SQL Server 2000

  1. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Microsoft SQL Server 2000, and then click Enterprise Manager.

  2. In Enterprise Manager, expand Microsoft SQL Servers, expand SQL Server Group, and then expand the name of the database server that contains the Direct Mailer database.

  3. Expand Direct Mailer, select Tables, right-click dml_job_errors, point to OpenTable, and then select Return all rows.

    The Direct Mailer job errors are listed in the table in the right pane.
