SecurityMode Property (DistributionDatabase, IntegratedSecurity)

This feature will be removed in a future version of Microsoft SQL Server. Avoid using this feature in new development work, and plan to modify applications that currently use this feature.

The SecurityMode property directs the authentication mode used by an instance of Microsoft SQL Server or a connection to a SQL Server database used for replication distribution.

Syntax

Parts

  • object
    An expression that evaluates to an object in the Applies To list.
  • value
    A long integer that specifies a security mode as described in Settings.

Read/write for the IntegratedSecurity object. Write-only for the DistributionDatabase object.

Constant Value Description

SQLDMOSecurity_Integrated

Allows Windows Authentication only.

SQLDMOSecurity_Mixed

Allows Windows Authentication or SQL Server Authentication.

SQLDMOSecurity_Normal

Allows SQL Server Authentication only.

SQLDMOSecurity_Unknown

The security type is unknown.

Remarks

By default, an instance of SQL Server performs login authentication using either Windows Authentication or SQL Server Authentication at the direction of the connection.
