How to: Open IIS Manager
IIS Manager enables you to configure Internet Information Services (IIS). How you open IIS Manager depends on the version of IIS and the operation system. The following table shows which IIS version can be used with Windows operating systems.

Starting IIS Manager for IIS 7.0
You must be logged on as a member of the Administrators group on the local computer to perform the following procedures, or you must have been delegated the appropriate authority.
Note
On and Windows Server 2008, if User Account Control (UAC) is enabled, it might display a message when you try to access IIS Manager. If so, click Continue. For more information, see User Account Control.
To start IIS Manager from the Run dialog box
On the Start menu, click All Programs, click Accessories, and then click Run.
In the Open box, type inetmgr and then click OK.
To start IIS Manager from the Administrative Services console
On the Start menu, click All Programs, click Accessories, and then click Run.
In the Run text box, type control panel, and then click OK.
In the Control Panel window, click Classic View, and then double-click Administrative Tools.
In the Administrative Tools window, double-click InternetInformation Services.
Starting IIS Manager for IIS 5.0 and IIS 6.0
You must be logged on as a member of the Administrators group on the local computer to perform the following procedures, or you must have been delegated the appropriate authority.
To open IIS Manager at a command prompt
On the Start menu, click Run.
In the Open dialog box, type inetmgr, and then click OK.
To open IIS Manager in Windows Server 2003
- On the Start menu, click Administrative Tools, and then click Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.
To open IIS Manager in Windows XP
On the Start menu, click Control Panel.
Note
If you are using the Windows Classic theme for your desktop display, by default the Control Panel menu item is on the Settings menu.
If you have not already done this, click Switch to Classic View.
Double-click Administrative Tools, and then double-click Internet Information Services.
To open IIS Manager in Windows 2000
- On the Start menu, click Applications, click Administrative Tools, and then click Internet Service Manager.
