How to: Add Users to a Default Group

This procedure describes how to add a new member to one of the groups predefined by Team Foundation Server. You can add a user or group defined in Team Foundation Server, or a user or group defined by the Windows network.

Membership changes to a default server-level group made at the team project level are reflected server-wide.

Required Permissions

To perform these procedures, you must be a member of the Project Administrators group to add a user or group to a Team Foundation Server project-level group. Additionally, you must be a member of the Team Foundation Administrators group to add a user or group to an Team Foundation Server server-level group. To add users to a group associated with a team project

  1. In Team Explorer, select the team project that the group is in.

  2. From the Team menu, point to Team Project Settings, and then click Group Membership.

  3. In the Project Groups dialog box, select the default group to which you want to add users, and then click Properties.

  4. In the Team Foundation Server Group Properties dialog box, on the Members tab, under Add Member, select Windows User or Group.

  5. Click Add.

    In the Select Users or Groups dialog box, under Enter the object names to select, enter the domain name and alias of the users who you want to add.

    To add more than one user at a time, separate the entries with a semicolon (;).

  6. Click OK.

To add a Team Foundation Server group to a group associated with a team project

  1. In Team Explorer, select the team project that the group is in.

  2. From the Team menu, point to Team Project Settings, and then click Group Membership.

  3. In the Project Groups dialog box, select the default group to which you want to add a Team Foundation Server group, and then click Properties.

  4. In the Team Foundation Server Group Properties dialog box, on the Members tab, under Add Member, select Team Foundation Server Group.

  5. Click Add.

  6. In the Add Group dialog box, under Groups available, select the group that you want to add, and then click OK.
