Investment areas

Investment areas

Power Pages Copilot
Makers can take the assistance of Copilot in Power Pages to create parts of a website through natural language instructions. These can be used to quickly create a new site or make changes to an existing site.

For example, using Copilot in Power Pages, you will be able to:

  • Create relevant website copy and suggest images for a webpage.
  • Use Copilot to retrieve protected website content for authenticated users and public website content for anonymous users.
  • Use Copilot to create forms and Dataverse tables.

Design studio
Power Pages design studio provides a simplified experience to create and customize a website. As a maker, you can use the Pages, Styling, Data, and Set up workspaces to customize many aspects of your website within a single interface.

Power Pages Home provides a single view of all your websites in an environment and allows you to create additional sites using the available templates.

Learn hub helps makers learn how to build sites end-to-end through documentation, guided tutorials, and videos.

Template hub and prebuilt templates
Power Pages template hub empowers makers to create sites using predefined, industry-specific templates. The templates can be modified to reflect branding and customized to address specific business requirements. These templates expand upon the templates previously offered to add additional, industry-specific scenarios.

Administration and governance
As an administrator, you're able to efficiently manage, configure, and maintain websites directly from the Power Platform admin center and the Set up workspace with the design studio.

The administration and governance features allow you to:

  • View website details, capacity consumption reports, and other site information from the Power Platform admin center.
  • Use self-service diagnostic tools, such as the portal checker, to identify and resolve common issues in websites.
  • Configure integration with other services like SharePoint and Power BI.
  • Restrict site access by IP address, enable maintenance mode on sites, and other site administration options.

In 2023 release wave 1, we're enhancing administration capabilities with new features like enhanced website inventory information.

Professional developer experiences
Professional developer experiences enable developers to build advanced customizations and configurations with their websites. These experiences include several key areas, such as:

  • Tooling support for development like Visual Studio Code for Web editor, Visual Studio Code extensions, and continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) support using Azure DevOps and GitHub actions.
  • End-to-end application lifecycle management (ALM) capabilities.
  • Extensibility patterns allowing developers to extend the websites for complex business requirements.

Power Pages home page
The Power Pages home page is the main entry point for makers, developers, and administrators to work on building and configuring Power Pages websites. We are providing new features and improvements to new makers and established professionals.

  • Extending Power Pages website trials to 90 days to allow more time to learn and develop Power Pages websites.
  • Providing developer environments to new makers, removing the need for them to create new Power Platform environments to try out Power Pages.
  • The ability to re-activate websites that have expired or have been migrated.

Core platform
The core platform provides makers with capabilities to configure, customize, and use as-is in low-code/no-code ways and extend using professional development techniques to meet business needs.

Typical areas that describe the core platform capabilities are:

  • Content management system (CMS) capabilities to store webpages and site content.
  • Data types and components, such as forms and lists, to allow a user to interact with data in Microsoft Dataverse.
  • User authentication supporting OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, and SAML 2.0 standard protocols.
  • Security using a robust role-based access control (RBAC) authorization model that provides granular control over permissions on webpages and data.
  • A configurable global search that allows users to search content within a website.
  • Extensibility options provided by code components, Web APIs, Liquid code, client-side scripts, custom style sheets, and web templates.
