Book Reviews: Recipes for Designing Expert Reports, Introducing SQL Server 2008 R2

Teo Lachev is a well-known Reporting Services MVP, speaker at conferences, and authored several Reporting Services and Analysis Services books in the past.  Teo recently wrote a book review of “Reporting Services Recipes – for Designing Expert Reports” on this blog.  Enjoy! 

In his review Teo says another title for this book might have been “Reporting Services Tips and Tricks”. He is absolutely right, since you get step-by-step instructions and further background information for more than 60 common report design recipes across all Reporting Services versions; but see for yourself in Teo’s review.

 

On a related note, I wanted to congratulate Stacia Misner and Ross Mistry on their “Introducing Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2” ebook release. The ebook is available as free download through Microsoft Press: XPS format, PDF format. 

As you read this ebook, I believe you will find that there are a lot of exciting enhancements and new capabilities engineered into SQL Server 2008 R2. It is definitely not a minor release!  I was one of the technical reviewers and focused on the Reporting Services chapter written by Stacia.  She did a great job at providing an overview and introduction to all enhancements that went into Reporting Services in 2008 R2.  So if you are already familiar with previous versions of SQL Server and/or Reporting Services, this book is a great introduction for what’s new in 2008 R2.
