Determine If You Need To Author Configuration Data Outside the Configuration Manager Console for Desired Configuration Management

Aplica-se a: System Center Configuration Manager 2007, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 R2, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 R3, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 SP1, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 SP2

You might need to author configuration baselines and configuration items for Configuration Manager 2007 outside the Configuration Manager console for the following reasons:

  • In-house customized configuration data you require is produced by administrators or developers who do not have access to the Configuration Manager console.

  • You prefer to write in XML rather than use a Windows interface, and understand the DCM Digest schema.

  • You require configuration data that the Configuration Manager console cannot interpret, and you understand the Service Modeling Language (SML) XML schema.
