In Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2007, the Configuration Manager 2007 console is the primary interface you use to configure, run, and access Configuration Manager 2007 features and tools. As an administrator, you install and use the Configuration Manager 2007 console to accomplish the day-to-day tasks required to configure your sites, maintain your Configuration Manager 2007 site database, and monitor the status of your Configuration Manager 2007 hierarchy.
