Data Graphics not being displayed for diagrams configured for the SCOM add-in

Recently a bug was discovered in the SCOM add-in ( download here ) which prevents the add-in from applying the cool custom data graphic icon set on any shapes that are linked to SCOM data.

Luckily there are a few workarounds:

For existing diagrams:

  1. Download the attached Visio drawing.
  2. Open the attached Visio diagram.
  3. Copy the shape that is labeled ‘Copy me to your diagram’ and paste it into your diagram.
    image
  4. Once it is copied, promptly delete it…yes delete it ( not Undo but Delete ).  The process of copying this shape to your diagram pulls across the data graphics that are needed for the SCOM add-in.

For new diagrams:

Start a new diagram using the attached template (VST) which contains all the data graphics that are needed by the SCOM add-in.

This still doesnt work. All the objects turn grey after the drawing is published to Sharepoint.

i now see health icons in my visio drawings. BUT if i publish a visio to sharepoint as a vdw, i see the following behavior:if i open the published vdw in visio, health icons are displayed correctly. if i open the published vdw in IE, health icons are displayed at first but when i Enable Refresh, all health icons disappear. if i am using a different graphic set, where i'm using shape color for health state instead of the icons, the shape loses its color after i enable refresh.

My Problem is the same as what curtiss has mentioned above. The only difference is that I publish the VDW to SharePoint 2010.

I'm going through the same issue. I noticed that whenever I try to refresh the diagram I get an error on my root management server in SCOM. It uses the computer name instead of the accounts defined in SCOM under read only operators to get access to SCOM to refresh the data. The event ID is 26319. Below is the error. An exception was thrown while processing Connect for session id uuid:f18002a5-5795-4f76-aaa1-a60634cfa067;id=96.Exception Message: The creator of this fault did not specify a Reason.Full Exception: System.ServiceModel.FaultException`1[Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.Common.UnauthorizedAccessMonitoringException]: The creator of this fault did not specify a Reason. (Fault Detail is equal to Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.Common.UnauthorizedAccessMonitoringException: The user DomainMachine name$ does not have sufficient permission to perform the operation.).I have no idea where it picks the Share Point Server instead of the apppool account. How do I fix it?
